Finished!!

I just finished adding gold leaf to my gallery print.
It's due this week, and is going to be shipped to China for an exhibition.

Wicked.

...
I wish I chould go along with my print, but being an emerging artist usually means you don't have extra money lying around...

FINISHED!

Title: Shinjyuku 2007
Year: 2007
Medium: Oil on Canvas
Time: 4 weeks
detail shot

Thinking about...

I'm thinking about doing a whole series that goes along with "Shinjyuku 2007". Anyoen have any opinions??

8.25.2007

80%!!!

Finally about 80% done. This is when it's getting really interesting to paint. Most of the basic things are done so all there is to do are the details... on buildings, in the main focus points, and as a whole.
I painted in the main figure... she's all ready except for the mask she'll be wearing and some things that'll be going along with her. Other then the main figure the people are painted in to be blurry as if they are in motion.

65% Done

This is a image from last night. Added in trees, white lights, a bit more details on top.

8.23.2007

60% done

I've been slacking a bit.
This is how far along my painting is right now.
About 60% done.
I sketched the main figure but decided against using it. Had to erase it after I had lightly painted the outlines... just didn't feel "right".

8.17.2007

Painting and me

Current photo of me (from yesterday) and how the piece is turning out.
Didn't add much onto the painting, but layered the reds and blues a bit more.

Myspace

I set up myspace site for work.
Visit me sometime.

50% done

Hit around 50% today. The main city view is starting to take shape. I need a few more things in the buildings, then quite a few things to "filling in" the gap between the buildings and the road.
I'm still not sure if I want other people then the main figure in this piece, nor am I sure if the main figure will be male or female... though I'm leaning more towards female.

8.12.2007

The piece

Updated image.
Still filling in the back ground., but is about 40% done.

Design Festa in Tokyo

http://www.designfesta.com/index.html

Site I've been checking out a lot lately.
Annual event in Tokyo, this November.
Heard it was pretty cool, only I haven't been in Japan when it's going on. I'm planning on seeing if I can go, either as an artist with something to show or just to see what's they have there.

The oil piece

More added onto the oil painting. Again, I have to wait for most of what I've painted to dry before I layer it... this is because I like sharp lines in my work.

8.08.2007

The painting that's underway

So this is the painting I'm doing in oil at the same time along with the others.
It's going to be the night scene of Shinjyuku, Tokyo. Keep in mind this is just going to be the background!

Board

Pic of the boards I have. I just finished priming three of them sizing about 24"x48". Here I used black geso and black acrylic on top.

8.04.2007

New piece underway 2

Same design after I worked on it a bit more.
Thinking about using this as the final idea for the piece.

Took off the sharp edges and squiggles. This is the basic outline, will be working the inside a lot.

New piece underway

Started a new project while I'm waiting for my oil painting to dry before I can put on another layer.
I have 6 pannels of masonite boards. These last a lifetime and then some, sturdy, and not too heavy to paint on.
I'll be doing a series of 6 pannels with graffiti...
this is a sketch of the first. Of course, this will probably change around quite a bit while I'll be spraying paint onto the boards. Thinking about a black background and yellow and green colors, possibly a light puple outline.
Will keep you posted.

8.02.2007

Bushism

Old drawing from 04.
The small figure (Mr. Bush) in the middle is cutting the oil lifeline of the two large countries. I had fun doing this piece...

Party with Lunaclips

Airbrushing some models with blacklight paint at a rave party.
Can't remember... but I think I brushed 3 models.

Love this neon paint. Esp. when I brushed neon pink underneath the model on the top the paint glowed really well. Paint was a bit thick so I mixed water and paint 3:2. Only prob. was that the paint took a shit load of time to dry even when it wasn't mixed down.

I used a different type of blacklight neon paint in tubes also. This paint was awful. Didn't dry and rubed off really easily. It glowed more then the paint I used for the airbrushig, but too messy.

From ill.it.er.ate's ILLRelease 2

These are photos I snapped while I was on break. Air brushing hours on end is pretty damn harsh.

The models here were really easy to work with. Knew how to keep still. Sounds like an easy thing to do, but trust me, most models aren't professional and move a lot. I use acrylic so if they move the acrylic smears and cracks.
But some of these girls were pretty cool. Esp. the one on the left. I keep bumping into her around town.
You rock girl.

From ill.it.er.ate's ILLRelease

Photo from when I was invited to a magazine release party to do live airbrushing in 07. Got to meet cool people here! Who knew this was gonna be the begining as a body painting artist?

06 Inking

Inking on a friend.

Photo from 2006.

The design is something I've been working on for a while.

I used India Ink with a brush... prob. took about hour and a half. Towards the end started flaking a bit and the ink didn't brush on smoothly. This is when I started getting interested in body painting.
